I'm just catching up to life. This, however, I wrote on the back of a piece of a worksheet 7/29. This weekend I ate pasta salad out of a Dixie cup. I swam in a pond next to a cemetary labeled with a "Deliveries Only" sign. I held a tent down in a forceful gale. I met too many people to name. I was a small piece of a giant, swaying, singing organism. I emersed myself in frigid water repeatedly. I sat in a tent alone through a sparkling thunderstorm. I walked through inches of filthy cow mud willingly. I ate too many avocados. I spent 25 hours on a plane or in an airport. |

I'm sitting in my own tweak right now. I'm so anxious to get off of work and go home. I still need to wash clothes before I pack. I'm short on money, and I don't get paid until Friday, so let's hope I don't need a poncho or anything additional to what I have already. I figure I'll take a pair of pants, a skirt, and several T-shirts, along with some bar-soap, a rag, sunscreen, and a big floppy hat. Cos still has my mud/water boots, since I accidentally left them there in March. That leaves some crappy flip-flops to wear, a towel, and a swimming suit. I tried my vintage one on the other day, and it fits again! Woohoo! My butt is bigger, but it was always kinda small to begin with. I'm also going to meet Martha, Ronald's ex, tomorrow. I'm slightly nervous, but that's probably a good thing. I was nervous to meet Cos's Ashley, too, and we ended up getting along splendidly. The funnest part of the whole trip? The 4:30am bus ride to the airport tomorrow. Yup. |

Saturday night (or shall I say Sunday morning?) Patty, Alice and I went on a 38-mile ride around the TC. It was a lot of fun, and a great excuse to be on my bike. My chain only slipped 2 times, when I shifted too far, too fast. It started at midnight, with an almost full moon glowing the whole night. It was a bit eerie, since it had rained buckets the whole day and there was fog everywhere. I didn't hear of anyone getting hurt on the ride, which was organized for up to 200 people. Hopefully soon there will be pictures in my Facebook. I'm hounding Alice to get them up. After a midnight-til-dawn ride, I slept all day Sunday. I then made the mistake of going out Sunday night with my roommate, Cady. I keep forgetting that I'm not 22 anymore and can't drink and party like I used to. I can't help it, I like the Utili-kilts and chops! And I also like making out with random strangers. Kilty guy got my phone number, and I wonder if he'll call. I got his number, as well, so I'll call him when I return from the Falcon Ridge Folk Festival next week. |

| I've found a poly mixer here in the TC. I'll be going on July 12, and hopefully there will be some people within my standards. Hmmm. |

I decided to finally use one of my benefits from work: access to the gym! I'm so sore today, after biking to and from work, and also with the massive amount of balance and strengthening exercises done in the class I took. It was hard to wash my hair, I could barely lift my arms! My legs are fine, but I always knew they were strong. It's the arms and back that really throb, but a good throb. I definitely need to work on strengthening my upper body. I'm trying very hard not to be lazy right now, but it's not exactly working. Meh. That's why I'm on LiveJournal! Tomorrow I'm going out with Jason, Sergio, and Rebecca (boy, that should be fun) to mini-golf at the Walker, and then see the newest Indiana Jones. Yay! I don't know, but I doubt Jason knows anything. Rebecca surely does, as we've talked about it. I thought it was just going to be Jason and I, but things happen. I'm debating between ducking out for my own comfort, or actually sucking it up to see Jason and be a supportive friend. Sometime this weekend a persistent boy is trying to get me to go out with him. The only reason that he wants to meet me is because he wants to sleep with lots of women, and my loving roommate directed him to me. Wonderful, no? So he's in Minneapolis for the week, and wants to get together with me. I suggested Hard Times after I go out with my friends, and so maybe he won't grope me. I know I shouldn't think this, but maybe he'll run screaming when he figures out I'm slightly overweight and into emotional relationships, not casual sex. It'd be fun to break him, though, wouldn't it? |

Tomorrow is the one year anniversary of my grandfather's death. I miss him, and wish I'd been closer (geographically) in the last years of his life. Ronald is here, and is currently keeping himself occupied while I work. I'm here for another hour, and then I have to leave or else go overtime. Yay! Early day, and a three day weekend. |

Art-A-Whirl is this weekend, and I live so close now. I wonder if anyone would go with me. It's no fun to go alone, but I'm going to if I have to. |

Today was damn near perfect. I slept late, or as late as Cady would let me sleep. She started vacuuming and woke everyone in the household. We proceeded to drive to Wisconsin to buy beer for a Sunday in the sun. We bought doughnuts and coffee for the ride, and spent as little time and money as we could outside of our home state. The car ride only gave us a taste of the sun, and we were hungry for more. With our freshly acquired beverages and a few blankets and books, we set up camp on the front yard of our Marcy Homes apartment building. Shortly into our laziness, I heard a voice down the street say, "This is Dr. Pepper, and I'm Dr. Seuss." It was Matt from a few houses down, and he introduced us to his roommate Erik. They decided to pause in their adventure into Dinkytown to return a movie, rather inclined to laze in the sun with three pretty girls. Breaking shortly from our laziness, the girls went for food and the boys to complete the purpose of their outing. We grazed on falafel sandwiches, stuffed grape leaves, spinach pie, fries and chicken fingers. Our return was timed well, and our walk overlapped the path Matt and Erik took. More blankets were supplied as I ran upstairs to find the house stash of fabric, and on the return to the yard I knocked on Joel's door. Surprisingly he answered, and followed to the party downstairs. He brought his guitar, and Matt started his show. Two more arrived, a girl hand-sewing a hood, and a tween in corduroy short pants. Another three, this time as hipstery as could be, but added their voices to songs and frisbee cheers. We took over the street for frisbee, shouting "Car!" Matt was barefoot, a brave boy. More songs, including acoustic freestyle and emo rap, echoed from the ampitheater that is our neighborhood. When the sun went down we moved indoors, where Max and Alex were watching a Twins game. They have the wonder of TiVo and so we paused the game and headed down the street again. We hopped the caution bar by the Stone Arch Bridge, and went down to the river. With our feet hanging over the flood wall, we watched the lights of Downtown and the bridge sparkle on the water. The wind was eventually too much to handle in shorts, and so we trudged up the mountain of stairs back to the street and home. We couldn't quite bring ourselves to go inside just yet, so far a sign that the mini ice age might not be so bad. It really was a great, restful, and beautiful day. |

I'm predictably underprepared for the weather today. I'm wearing short pants and a hoodie. As I was waiting for the bus, watching the snow come down, I thought, "Maybe I should just go back and get a coat." Nah, too lazy for that. Week three at work. This week is busy, thanks to Month End crud. Meh. I'm just waiting until Friday. Friday I can pay off the rest of my bike. Cruising. |

Hooray for acceptable first days at work! I have a pseudo-cube, and the "Mail Room" is really the middle of the office, where everyone comes through. This means I'm going to be a social center, doesn't it? Hmm. I'm a paper-pusher. Oh, boy. |

my room is a mess, but that's probably why Quita (Michelle's cat) likes it so much. I kicked her out last night around 2 or 3, but she came back to chew on plastic bags, sit in empty boxes and pounce my feet. Ikea tonight: must get shelves and a dresser. Bah. |

I am absolutely exhausted. Moving day is over, though, thanks be to being built for hard labor. Now I'll pass out in my new home. |

This morning I stumbled out of my room to find Ben and Marge lazing about. Marge says, "I want to go for a bike ride," and away we went! It was great. After I warmed up and set a rhythm I probably got close to 25mph. And my saddle area doesn't hurt, so I must have done it right this time. I really like the Minnehaha Parkway path. The curves make me want to race along, leaning into every turn. Now and then I'd look back and see that I'd left them way behind, and so I got to see a lot of ducks on the creek. We just spent the last six hours on the Mississippi River. There were tons of people down there for the Spring Kick-off for the fishing club. I would say about 35 people on average at the waterline the whole time, with a swarm of kids and wives behind. I won a Twins blanket, Marge got a fishing pole, and Ben got a Wild hat. I got to hang out and meet a few new faces, some that had just moved to the TC and needed fishing buddies. Ben and I have already started dreaming about Pike Island, but we're certain the trail isn't clear of ice and snow yet. It was warm today. I got sunburned, just a little. Finally, outdoor activity time has reached the tundra. |

Tax hike passes in five counties of the metro area. The tax will spend 5 cents out of every $20 to pay for transit. PS I used to know how to make it open in a new window, but that's gone now. Any refreshers? |

Dear Maren, Thank you for contacting me to share your support for public transportation. I believe that it is very important to invest in our state’s transit infrastructure, which includes taking steps to oppose the Governor’s cuts to transit projects. I will continue to advocate secure funding for Metro Transit and assure that Minnesotans have access to good public transportation. Thanks again for taking the time to connect with me personally about this issue. Sincerely, Patricia Torres Ray Senator Patricia Torres Ray Minnesota District 62 (651) 296-4274 75 Rev.
